Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu has warned his side must guard against complacency as they prepare to return to Champions League action against Czech side Slavia Prague at San Siro.

Inter went some way towards banishing any lingering demons from last season’s final by easing to a 2-0 win at Ajax on their return to the competition earlier this month.

But they will run into opponents who sit second and are still unbeaten in the Czech Liga and Chivu is adamant they must not take three more points for granted.

“I expect consistency, focus and humility, which this team has already shown,” said Chivu, whose side are also coming off the back of a solid 2-0 win at Cagliari in Serie A on Saturday.

“We need to be more dominant and control the play. Opponents can prove challenging, so we need to recognise what to do to secure the win while making it as smooth as possible.

“Recently we have been consistent. We need to recognise that the Champions League is full of challenges – every team wants to get a positive result and in this competition, there are no easy games.”

Wing-back Federico Dimarco is expected to start against Slavia after making an impact as a substitute against Cagliari, while Denzel Dumfries and goalkeeper Yann Sommer could also return.

Meanwhile Slavia, who beat city rivals Dukla 2-0 on Friday night, have a number of injuries to contend with, with Dominik Javorcek, Igoh Ogbu, Petr Sevcik and Tomas Holes all set to be sidelined.
