Inter Milan return action for the first since last week’s aborted game against Fiorentina as they host promoted Parma on Friday.
Inter’s Serie A clash in Florence was abandoned after 16 minutes following the collapse of Fiorentina’s Edoardo Bove.
Bove is recovering in hospital.
Simone Inzaghi’s side will go into this weekend’s fixtures trailing leaders Napoli by four points but with a game in hand.
Wing-back Carlos Augusto could return having been ruled out last weekend with a thigh problem but defenders Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard remain on the sidelines.
Striker Marko Arnautovic is expected to be available after missing some training this week due to personal reasons.
The two sides last met in a Coppa Italia last-16 tie in January 2023 which Inter won 2-1 with an extra-time goal from Acerbi after Lautaro Martinez had scored a last-gasp equaliser.
Parma coach Fabio Pecchia recently joked with Inzaghi at an awards ceremony that his team are now seeking revenge.
“There’s little to say about the value of his work other than he deserves compliments,” Pecchia told reporters at a press conference.
“We crossed paths while picking up the award and I reminded him of the Coppa Italia match, telling him he still owes me one!
“But that’s in the past now. It was a lesson.”
Inter are unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions but Parma, who are 11th in the table, are also in good heart after an impressive 3-1 win over fifth-placed Lazio in their last outing.
“At certain moments you have to put in something extra and we did it in the game against Lazio,” said Pecchia.
“When the level was raised the team never held back and I liked the reaction after the goal we conceded. The team did not fall apart and remained positive despite the pressure.”
Inter’s last completed game in Serie A saw them thrash Verona 5-0.
Their only loss this season came in their derby against rivals AC Milan in September.
Friday’s game is followed by a trip to Germany to face Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
They are also away next weekend when they travel to Lazio.
