AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca took the unusual approach of naming his starting line-up ahead of his side’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday.

Fonseca revealed that Rafael Leao and Fikayo Tomori will both return to the side after missing their hard-fought return to winning ways against Udinese in Serie A on Saturday.

Milan go into the game having lost both their first two games in the league stage of the competition and knowing any further mishaps could effectively end their hopes of progressing.

But Fonseca insisted: “We started by facing two of the strongest teams in Europe, we struggled against Liverpool but I saw quality against Bayer Leverkusen.

“We want to keep growing and advancing in the competition and to do that, we have to win tomorrow. I’m not thinking too far ahead, we just need to focus on the next game without making any calculations.

“Club Brugge are a good team with great attacking quality. Even in their recent loss to Dortmund, they created many chances so it will be crucial to defend well and stay well.”

Brugge go into the game sitting in fourth place in the Belgian top flight and with a win already under their belts in the Champions League this season having won 1-0 at Sturm Graz at the start of the month.
