Rangers are closing in on the Transfer Deadline Day signing of Everton striker Youssef Chermiti.
The 21-year-old, who has not scored in his 24 appearances for Everton, has arrived at the Light Blues’ training ground ahead of a reported £8million move.
Comings and goings are expected at Rangers and Celtic after Sunday’s drab goalless derby at Ibrox highlighted the need for both sides to improve, and they have each been linked with loan moves for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Martin revealed on Sunday that last season’s top goalscorer Cyriel Dessers had “probably” played his last game for the club ahead of an anticipated move to Panathinaikos and that he was “close to a couple” of new signings.
Rangers have also been linked with moves for Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean plus Canada and Marseille centre-back Derek Cornelius.
Speculation over the future of midfielder Nicolas Raskin will also continue after he sat out the visit of Celtic, while Martin could be looking to offload out-of-favour players such as Clinton Nsiala and Oscar Cortes.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was “hopeful” he would get the attacking reinforcements he is looking for and his club appear to be stepping up their pursuit of Hammarby winger Sebastian Tounekti.
However, reports in Sweden say Hammarby are still pondering an offer worth up to £5.5million.
Celtic have also been trying to sign Anderlecht forward Kasper Dolberg amid uncertainty over the future of two of their own attackers. Adam Idah awaits the green light for a move to Swansea while winger Yang Hyun-jun has also attracted interest, with Birmingham his likely destination.
Rodgers hopes to sign two strikers if Idah departs and is looking for additions out wide.
Shayden Morris has today left the club to join Luton Town for an undisclosed fee.

Shayden Morris was the first mover of the final day of the transfer window in the William Hill Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen’s Hampden hero departed for Luton.
The wide man, whose cross led to Kasper Schmeichel’s own goal in the Scottish Cup final win over Celtic, joined League One Luton for an undisclosed fee at the start of what could be a busy day at Pittodrie.
Reports claim Ester Sokler could also be on his way out of Pittodrie while Fletcher Boyd has been strongly linked with Aston Villa.
Dons manager Jimmy Thelin said: “We are still looking to add players to the squad, and the hard work continues to ensure any new arrivals secured by the close of the transfer window today will positively impact the club.”
Hibernian are hoping to complete the loan signing of Scotland forward Lyndon Dykes from Birmingham while Elie Youan – who missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw with St Mirren – is close to joining Legia Warsaw.
Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou was working on “squeezing one in” while Livingston boss David Martindale was “pretty confident” of adding a full-back and central midfielder. Falkirk manager John McGlynn is hopeful of signing two more players.
Hearts completed the signing of 33-year-old German goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow on Sunday and most of the business on deadline day at Tynecastle is expected to be in the opposite direction, with Kenneth Vargas and Musa Drammeh among those who could move on.
St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson remains eager to add a pacy striker but said on Sunday evening that “we need to get somebody out before we bring somebody in”. He added: “We’re actively looking. We’ve got three or four names that we’re hoping may drop.”
Dundee manager Steven Pressley reported “nothing imminent” on Sunday but added they were “assessing the market”.
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin is happy with his 14 summer signings and Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell did not envisage any more incomings after signing former Ross County right-back James Brown on Saturday.
