New St Mirren signing Stuart Carswell says he’s determined to help the club bounce back at the first attempt.

The Buddies suffered relegation from the Scottish Premiership last season after a disappointing season and will likely compete with Rangers and Hibernian for top spot.

The former Motherwell midfielder, who on Monday signed a one-year deal with the option of a second, is confident that he can help get Ian Murray’s men back into the top tier this season.

“I’m looking forward to a new challenge and getting the club back up where it belongs,” Carswell told the club’s official website.

“I came out to the training ground last week and was very impressed with [manager] Ian Murray and the facilities there. I can’t wait to get started.”
