Hearts skipper Lawrence Shankland has yet to put pen to paper signing his future off to the Tynecastle side.
Its understood that Shankland has been offered a new deal at the club but has yet to accept. With just under three weeks remaining of the January transfer window the leagues top goal scorer is still deciding whether his future lies in the capital or not.
Despite rumours that the Scotland international is set to be joining Rangers in this window Hearts boss Steven Naismith says no one has made an offer or has had any contact with the club about the striker, which is something the Gorgie side are of course happy about.
Naismith said today,
“The outcome will be what it will be. Everyone loves him at the club, we appreciate him. We’ve not had any offers or interest or anyone contact the club. I think a lot of that speculation is coming from outside, from punditry, from media.
“For Lawrence, in terms of his contract offer, he’s at a time in his career where, we need to understand he’s playing the best football of his life.
“We need to weigh up what the pros are from out point of view with him staying at Hearts and what he can achieve. He also needs to understand that it’s a short career, he’s got to do the best he can for him and his family.
“Everybody outside the club and who supports it needs to appreciate, understand and respect it and just enjoy him as much as we’ve got him whether it be the length of this contract or beyond.”
