Rangers put in a valiant display in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm League Cup Final.

Testament to Rangers’ performance they may leave Ibrox disappointed not to take all three points against their star studded opponents.

Hamza Igamane continued to grow his promising reputaion when he gave the hosts a lead two minutes after half time. Captain James Tavernier picked out the Moroccan forward who dispatched clinically into the bottom corner to send the home crowd wild.

It was nothing more than Rangers had served given their first half showing. The Jefte-Ridvan axis was working to great affect down the left had side while Vaclav Cerny was getting plenty of change out of Destiny Udogie on the other side.

Nedim Bajrami was a shoe size away from poking home a Jefte cross and Nicolas Raskin out in the kind of showing which brought him to Rangers in the first place.

The only sour note of an impressive first half was an injury to John Souttar which saw him withdrawn ahead of the weekend’s mammoth clash.

It wasn’t always going to be plain sailing against a side with English Premier League riches behind them and Spurs flexed their squad muscles when Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench to strike home the equaliser.

All eye now turn to Hampden where Rangers know that’s tonight’s efforts will count for nothing when they face their bitter rivals for the first silverware of the season.
