St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson has been named Manager of the Month for August after his side started the campaign as they left off the last one.
And Australian internationalist Ryan Strain – called up to the Socceroos squad along with Keanu Baccus for the game against Mexico in Dallas next week – picked up the Player of the Month award.
It has been an impressive start to the season for St Mirren who topped their League Cup group and who are still unbeaten this term with seven points from their opening three games.
“It is a good way to start the weekend but it is not one person at this football club, it is the culmination of evefryone’s hard work and we have managed to reap the rewards of that,” said Robinson.
“It is credit to everyone, especially the players.
“We have put down good foundations but that is all they are. We are very early on in the seson. We need to build on that and keep progressing and I think we will.”
Robinson has also dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant Hibs managerial position.
Asked if there had been contact from Hibs, Robinson was succinct; “none.”
When pushed he maintained that his focus is solely on tomorrow’s game against Livingston.
“That question shouldn’t be answered,” he said. “I am the St Mirren manager. I have been linked with every job in Scotland throughout the years and I have not spoken to a single club.
“I conduct myself properly and I have not taken my eye off what we are doing here and I am totally focused on tomorrow.
“We have a hard game against a very good team who have recruited very well and my sole focus is on that.”
