15 Aug Hamilton 4-0 Dundee United: Accies land first win in style
By Laura Brannan at New Douglas Park
Hamilton Accies stormed to their first victory of the season with a sensational 4-0 win over Dundee United.
Martin Canning’s side went into the clash still to find the back of the net this term but had a three-goal cushion by the break.
The manager admitted his side showed shades of Alex Neil’s time in charge.
He said; “I thought the new boys were excellent but it’ll always go back to Alex because of the way we played.
“I said at the time I wouldn’t change too much in terms of the way we play. I think it’s the right way to play football, Alex spoke about it plenty, and I would like to continue to play similarly.
“Today you could say it was similar to Alex’s style, but hopefully now people will see it’s my team.”

Ali Crawford struck from 20 yards to put the home side ahead on 19 minutes before a Lucas Tagliapietra header and Carlton Morris effort virtually sealed the points.
Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara said the first-half was the worst of his time in charge.
“I thought we were terrible, they were first to most things, they bullied us.
“We never got going. They were far better and far sharper in the first-half.
“You have to earn the right to play football, you can’t just turn up. We were flat but we’re not making that an excuse.”
