Barcelona suffer Dani Olmo injury blow

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has suffered a dislocated shoulder and will be sidelined for about a month.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury in the 65th minute of Tuesday night’s 3-1 LaLiga victory over Atletico Madrid when he put his side 2-1 up with a left-footed strike past Jan Oblak.

The Spain international fell awkwardly on landing which led to him being replaced by Marcus Rashford.

That was Olmo’s third goal in his last two games for the league leaders and Barcelona expect him to be out of action until the new year.

A statement on their website read: “Dani Olmo suffered a dislocated left shoulder in the game on Tuesday against Atletico Madrid.

“After tests, it has been decided to follow a conservative course of treatment. Recovery time is approximately one month.”

Olmo’s setback adds to Barca’s growing injury list in midfield. Fermin Lopez missed the last two games with a calf injury, while Gavi is recovering from a knee injury and Frenkie De Jong is also out.
