Joey Barton may just have dropped the biggest hint yet that he is set to join Rangers.
The English midfielder was in Glasgow for talks last weekend, having been shown round Ibrox and Murray Park by assistant manager David Weir.
Out of contract this summer, Barton was a key player at Burnley in their promotion-winning campaign and he may yet be keen to stay with the Lancashire club with Premier League football on offer.
It is believed that the 33-year-old however wants longer term security than his one-year offer from Burnley provides and the prospect of an extended deal with the light blues, as well as top flight football in Scotland, may appeal to the former England cap.
Reports indicated that a decision would be made by the end of last week, though no announcement was made.
Now, though, social media has lit up with Barton tweeting song lyrics from Roy Orbison’s Penny Arcade song which is sang by the club’s fans: “Tough decision now it’s made. Onwards and upwards. #Rollupandspendyourlastdime
Tough decision but it's now made. Onwards and upwards from here. #Rollupandspendyourlastdime

It follows his earlier tweet late on Sunday night “#WATP”, having provided a running commentary on his profile of the Scottish Cup final, praising Kenny Miller’s header goal.
