Celtic boss Ronny Deila says it’s too soon to make a decision about offering Carlton Cole a deal at Celtic Park.
The former West Ham striker is a free agent and has been training with the Hoops this week after being released by the Hammers in the summer.
Deila has been suitably impressed by the former England international but says it’s too early to make a decision on the 31-year-old.
“He has been good. It is early. He needs more time. Nice to have him here. Lovely guy,” he said.
“We have a good squad but looking always to improve and we still don’t have that target man in the air for crosses so he can be the one.
“Will he be up to speed in a week?
“He needs more time than that. We also have to have the eye to see if there is something there we can develop over time and get back to the best he can be.
“We will see how it goes. It is not only my decision, it is his decision but I am happy to have him here and we will see in the near future what is going to happen.
“It is too early to say something but he is here so of course we are serious.”
