04 Apr Dreams becoming a reality for Leicester
Leicester City have without a doubt proven the shock of the season this year. Not just in the Premier League, but in any league.
No one would have seen this coming. A year ago, they sat bottom of the table, fighting a relegation battle that they only narrowly won. One year on, they are in first place and closing in on the title trophy.
There is a very real sense that this is Leicester’s moment. Apart perhaps from supporters of Tottenham and Arsenal, football fans far and wide each week are now looking up the Foxes’ results, willing them to keep going.
In a football climate increasingly influenced by big spending, Leicester have gone against the grain and are proving that money isn’t everything.
The signings of players such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’golo Kante, who have all been hugely influential this season, have proven very shrewd business indeed.
The appointment of Claudio Ranieri in the summer, has also proven to be a great bit of business by the club. The Italian, nicknamed “The Tinkerman” has shown more consistency in his selections of late, selecting only 25 players in his team over the course of the season.
This sort of stability has clearly been a big boost to the squad, who have demonstrated a tremendous team spirit and desire, unmatched by any of their rivals, to keep their great run going and to continually punch above their weight.
Twelve points from their next 6 games would be enough to see Leicester achieve what seemed like the impossible.
A once in a lifetime opportunity, they are within touching distance of making their dreams become a reality.
