14 Nov Gerrard to Celtic?
A move to Celtic could be on for Steven Gerrard after odds on him joining the club were slashed overnight.
The ex-Liverpool captain’s time at LA Galaxy may be coming to an end, and with a move back to Europe the most likely option, Glasgow could well be the location.
Having worked with Steven Gerrard before, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers may be looking to have a reunion with the 36 year-old at Parkhead, although another former manager of his, Rafa Benitez, is in the running to sign him also.
A major bookmaker has the Scottish champions at 4/1 to be Steven Gerrard’s next club, while Newcastle are also in the running at 5/1. A return to his former club Liverpool is 12/1.
Speculation of Gerrard leaving the MLS was further fuelled last night after the midfielder posted a picture on social media with the caption, “Special place, incredible view, I will miss you LA. #lalaland”. LA Galaxy lost in the MLS Playoff semi-finals last weekend, and after spending 18 months in the USA a new challenge may be a favourable prospect for him.
LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena has already expressed his interest in keeping the former England international for at least another season, however, it is looking more and more likely that Champions League winner will be looking elsewhere to end his career.
