25 Apr Riyad Mahrez wins PFA Player of the year
Leicester City attacker last night picked up the the PFA Player of the Year award after an incredible season for Leicester.
The Algerian winger has been a big part of the side’s unexpected league title campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing the assist for a further 11.
Having joined the club from Le Havre in January 2014, Mahrez was involved in saving Leicester from relegation last season.
It has been a remarkable turnaround since that time, with the Foxes sitting top of the table with hopes of rounding off an epic year by picking up Premier league winners medals.
Picking up the award, held in The Grosvenor House in London, the midfield was keen to credit his team-mates and manager who have shown a tremendous work ethic throughout the season; “All the credit is for them, seriously. And my manager and the staff. Without them I wouldn’t receive this award and I wouldn’t score. It’s the team spirit. I want to dedicate it to them.
I’m very grateful to receive this award, it’s a pleasure. It’s extra special because, if the players vote for me, it’s because they’ve seen I’ve been great this year so I’m happy”.
