Russell Martin has been SACKED by Rangers after just 123 days in charge at the Ibrox club.

The Light Blues were only able to muster a 1-1 draw with Falkirk earlier today, leaving them sitting eighth in the league table, with just one win from seven games.

That proved to be the nail in the coffin for the former Scotland international as he was relieved from his duties, with an official confirmation coming out of the club this evening.

An statement read: “Rangers Football Club confirms that it has parted company with Head Coach, Russell Martin.

“While all transition periods require some time, results have not met the club’s expectations.

“Assistant Head Coach, Matt Gill, and First-Team Coach, Mike Williamson, will also be departing.

“Russell and his staff have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club.

“We thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.

“Further updates from the club will follow in due course.”

Rangers have won just 5 out of 17 games in all competitions under Russell Martin, including just one win in the league – the 2-1 victory over Livingston last weekend.

The club have pulled the plug on the Gers boss as the international breaks looms. Rangers face Dundee Utd at Ibrox in their next outing when domestic football returns.
