Motherwell 1-1 Ross County: Moult rescues point for Well

By Laura Brannan at Fir Park

Motherwell snatched a share of the spoils a minute into stoppage time as Louis Moult levelled proceedings at home to Ross County.

The home side fought tirelessly throughout the second half to earn the 1-1 draw and cancel out Michael Gardyne’s first-half opener.

It was substitute Marvin Johnson who slid the ball across the face of goal for Moult to tap in his third strike in three games into the empty net.

‘Well boss Ian Baraclough said it was a well earned point; “I felt we kept knocking on the door and asking questions.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of games but it was two teams giving absolutely everything.

“We both knew how important it was but I’m pleased we got the reward, probably with our best move of the game as well.”

Baraclough introduced summer signing Theo Robinson after the break and along with Johnson on the hour mark, and the pair made an obvious impact.

“We had to change something, we were very predictable,” the manager continues.

“We weren’t getting on the ball from the midfield area and when we were we had very few options to get forward.

“Theo came on and gave us some pace and power up top.”

The English striker hopes to have given Baraclough food for thought ahead of next weekend’s Lanarkshire derby.

“I didn’t have a full pre-season but I’ve been training at my cousin’s gym and other teams,” he said.

“You’d like a steady pre-season but I feel good enough to get selected so it’s up to the manager.”
