Neymar talks about future

Barcelona star Neymar says talks are underway around negotiating a new deal to keep him at Camp Nou but says he is no hurry to sign a new contract.

Neymar was speaking after Barca thrashed Celta Vigo 6-1 to move them three points clear the top of La Liga.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City over the past couple of weeks as the Manchester duo jostle for position in preparation for next season.

City have announced Pep Guardiola will take over the reins from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer, while Jose Mourinho says he’s confident he will succeed Louis van Gaal at United.

Neymar snr, Neymar’s father’, revealed that United had a £144 million bid for Neymar last summer. The 24-year-old is tied to Barca until at least 2018 but says talks over a new deal have begun.

“The talks are underway. I still have three years left on my contract and I am relaxed,” he told reporters.

“We are really happy to be unbeaten during 30 matches. We are playing in our way and we want to keep this streak going.”

The Catalans were in scintillating form as they dismantled Celta, including an unorthodox penalty which bared the hallmark of the famous Johan Cruyff penalty for Ajax.

Messi passed to Luis Suarez from the spot but Neymar claims it was meant for him.

“We practised this penalty in training, but the pass was meant for me. However, Suarez was near the ball and scored.”
