Inverness climbed to within a point of Stenhousemuir at the top of William Hill League One with a 1-0 victory over Peterhead.
The home side were looking to return to winning ways following a loss and a draw and had to wait till the 64th minute when Billy McKay grabbed the winner to end Peterhead’s run of three straight victories.
That came after league leaders Stenhousemuir were held to a goalless draw against fourth-placed Alloa Athletic who played the final half an hour with 10 men after Stefan Scougall was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
East Fife earned a convincing 3-0 victory over strugglers Kelty Hearts for a third win from their last four.
Kieran Millar opened the scoring seven minutes before the break to give the away side a lead at the half way point.
Reis Peggie doubled their advantage nine minutes after half time and East Fife put the icing on a dominant second half when Gregor Nicol grabbed a third in stoppage time.
Cove Rangers picked up their first win of the season at the 11th attempt with a 3-0 victory away at Montrose.
Layton Bisland put the visitors in position for a first league win with his strike two minutes before the interval and goals from David Eguaibor and Lewis O’Donnell in the second half secured the points and a second clean sheet of the season.
Jack Stott’s strike and Cale Loughrey’s own goal helped Queen of the South end Hamilton’s run of four straight wins with a 2-1 victory.
