Bojan Miovski is confident that Rangers can claw back the six-point deficit to Celtic which remained following the goalless William Hill Premiership draw at Ibrox on Sunday.

The 26-year-old North Macedonia striker signed from LaLiga side Girona on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee on Saturday and was pitched in for his debut against the Hoops the following day.

The former Aberdeen forward showed up well for 72 minutes of what was an unusually dreary Old Firm match before he was replaced by Cyriel Dessers.

Miovski remains optimistic about the title race and the bid for trophies this season.

He said: “It’s too early. It’s only four games in the league, so it’s a lot of games to play. It’s no big difference.

“I’m here to help the team, to score goals, of course, to win trophies because in this team we need to always fight for the trophies.

“If you don’t win trophies here, it is a disappointing season for everyone.

“I know that it is a lot of pressure here. But this is why I came.

“I have big ambitions and the club have big ambitions, so I’m here to help the team.”

Many Dons fans expressed their displeasure at their former hero’s decision to move to Ibrox, but Miovski said: “I always respect Aberdeen. I had a great time there, but I need to make a decision for me and my family.”

Miovski revealed an unhappy time at Girona, whom he joined from the Dons in 2024 after two seasons at Pittodrie.

He said: “It was a busy three, four days for me. I was in Paris to sort my visa and travelling – a crazy week for me, but I’m happy that I’m here, and made my debut yesterday.

“I think we showed good character from the team. I think we will just be better and better.

“I didn’t have a great time in Girona but I didn’t want to move just to move from there.

“Girona had a very hard season in Spain. We almost get relegated, we didn’t play good football.

“I think as a team we disappointed. We had a really bad season.

“I played only 20 per cent of the games in all competitions, and we didn’t get another striker, we didn’t get the right service, and I think we struggled on this point and I move forward.

“I wanted a project to keep going in my career and Rangers was a great project for me, to come and play here.”
