It is understood that Brian Graham has told Firhill bosses that he will not be taking the managerial role at Partick Thistle – and that he wants to leave the club.

The striker still has 12 months on his current contract but has been linked with a move to newly promoted Falkirk.

It is believed that Graham was offered the managerial role with the Jags but had reservations after being interviewed.

Dougie Imrie, James McPake and Paul Caddis have also been interviewed for the post while Mark Wilson is also in the frame. Imrie has already told Morton that he will be remaining at the club.

Graham stood down as manager of Thistle’s women’s side when he and Wilson were placed in charge as the interim management team following the dismissal of Kris Doolan in February.

Graham believes he still has another season in him on the pitch and is keen to play another campaign before moving into coaching.

The striker said publicly after the play-off defeat to Livingston that he felt he could not go back into the dressing room as a player.
