Rangers and Dundee have announced Scotland Under-21 midfielder Lyall Cameron will move to Ibrox in the summer.
The 22-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Glasgow club.
A Dundee statement read: “Lyall will continue to be a valuable member of the Dundee FC squad for the remainder of the season.”
Rangers technical director Nils Koppen said on his club’s website: “I am delighted that we have agreed a deal for Lyall to join the club and to continue his career at Rangers come the summer.
“He is a talented young player, who has already gained great experience in the Scottish Premiership, and adding young, Scottish talent to our first-team squad is hugely important to all of us at the club. Lyall has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing him continue to grow at Rangers in the coming years.”
The deal was the first move involving a William Hill Premiership club to be announced on transfer deadline day.
Celtic are looking to sign a striker to make up for the loss of Kyogo Furuhashi, who departed for Rennes last week, and manager Brendan Rodgers hinted that a loan arrival was more likely.
With Rodgers confirming interest in 18-year-old Daniel Cummings, who has been linked with West Ham, Celtic are short of options, but the boss does not want to be rushed into a long-term transfer that does not suit.
Left-back is also a priority area for Celtic following the end of Alex Valle’s loan and, with Kieran Tierney lined up for a summer arrival, another temporary transfer could be on the cards if Arsenal do not let the Scotland international leave immediately.
Celtic have been linked with a move for 18-year-old Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller, who has been the subject of concrete interest from Italy.
There could be movement either way at Fir Park, with a goalkeeper vacancy arising from injuries to Aston Oxborough and recent loan signing Archie Mair.
Ahead of Monday, Hibernian head coach David Gray promised his club would be “proactive” and be ready to respond if any players depart, with Elie Youan in demand from Stoke and elsewhere.
Hearts and Dundee are still looking at the market and St Johnstone are expected to be busy, with Benji Kimpioka weighing up a potential move.
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin revealed his club were “working hard to try and get some energy and quality into the team”, while St Mirren are trying to sign two players. Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes is also on the hunt but has warned that finances are tight.
Ross County manager Don Cowie and Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin are both content with their squads.
