Hamilton’s miserable week continued with a 2-1 defeat at home to Queen of the South.

The Accies were knocked off top spot on Wednesday when they were handed a six-point deduction and fined £22,000 for breaches related to paying trialists and amateur players while under a transfer embargo.

And their four-match winning run on the pitch came to an end on Friday against the Doonhamers, who took the lead through Jack Stott in the 18th minute.

Oli Shaw had an effort saved as Hamilton looked to level, but the visitors doubled their lead in the 67th minute when Cale Loughrey turned the ball into his own net.

Hamilton pulled one back four minutes later when Connor Smith blasted an effort home, but Queen of the South held on to move up above their opponents, who now sit seventh.
