Robin Propper insists Rangers are “much better” than the team that continued their dreadful away form with a 1-1 draw against Dundee to leave boss Philippe Clement under intense pressure.

The Light Blues travelled to Tayside on Thursday night with their title hopes in tatters after just three wins in 10 William Hill Premiership fixtures away from Ibrox, and another evening of frustration began in the sixth minute when the impressive Oluwaseun Adewumi fired the home side into the lead.

Vaclav Cerny levelled in the 34th minute but the comeback could not be completed, and when the final whistle confirmed the Gers sit 15 points behind leaders Celtic, with prospects of overtaking their Old Firm rivals further shredded, the travelling fans turned their anger on Clement and the players.

Propper, who took over the captain’s armband due to an injury crisis, struggled to explain the Light Blues’ problems away from Ibrox in the league, but believes the performance was not a reflection of the squad’s abilities.

He said: “It’s difficult to say. We try really hard, everybody wants it.

“We want to take three points, we want to be happy and cheering with the fans, of course. They are there for us again in many ways. It’s hard to take, I don’t know, it’s difficult to say what’s happening.

“Of course, I’m frustrated as well. Everybody is frustrated because we want to win, we want to have the three points. And we are much better than this, I know that for sure.

“We need to find a solution. From everybody. Everybody wants it, everybody is talking to each other, doing the best they can.

“You’ve seen it in the second half, we can play football, we can drive the opponent back. In the end, it’s the details that make the difference. We have to win those games.”

Speaking only a week after the convincing 3-0 home win over Celtic, which gave Gers fans a boost, Propper insists Rangers have not gone backwards in the subsequent draws against Hibernian and Dundee.

The 31-year-old defender, signed from FC Twente last August said: “No, of course not.

“It was a big game, it’s a different game than the games we played since. They’re away games with different opponents.

“I think you need to play a different kind of football. We need to find a solution for this one.”

While questions about Clement’s future intensify, Propper insists there is unity at the Govan club.

He said: “We are a team, we are together in this. That’s the only thing I can say about it.

“We are confident that we can get out of this situation, that we can win these away games. We are confident to react on this.

“We are doing our best and everybody is in this. We try to do everything to win this kind of game, the gaffer as well.”
