Warburton adamant he’s staying at Rangers

By Craig Turnbull

Rangers boss Mark Warburton insists he’s going nowhere amid rumours linking him with a switch to Fulham.

Warburton also refuted suggestions that he has been offered extra incentives to entice him to stay at Ibrox.

Reports have suggested that the Cottagers are interested in acquiring the services of Warburton although no official move has been made by the English Championship side.

Warburton, who joined the Light Blues in the summer and has them on course for promotion to the Championship, maintained that reports speculating about his future were nonsense.

Asked if he could categorically deny that he wasn’t interested in the Fulham job, he said: “Absolutely. Please hear my words.

“It is very disrespectful to me, the club, the supporters and this case, Fulham. So categorically, absolutely, that is the case.

“There is no interest. I am the Rangers manager. I made it very clear last week, Saturday, Tuesday and last night I was forced into saying once again that I am absolutely committed to Rangers.

“It is always flattering to be linked to clubs.”

Was he offered extra incentives?

Again, not the case. That is why I am so frustrated at a supposed story without substantiation last night came out. Inappropriate. Incorrect. Malicious. Whatever you want to use. I think I deserve more respect. I know the club do and the supporters do.

Not at all. It’s a great group of players, absolutely committed as you saw on Tuesday night. We prepared well, the pitch was heavy and our squad is fairly thin.

“We are looking forward to Raith. I get irked when people don’t listen to the very clear message I send out on repeated occasions.”
