Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring to set title-chasing Al Nassr on course for a comfortable 3-0 win away to Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League.

The Portugal international claimed his 17th goal in 18 league games this season by tapping in a low cross from compatriot Joao Felix in the 47th minute.

French defender Mohamed Simakan headed home a Felix corner to double the lead six minutes later, before Kingsley Coman added a late third.

Al Kholood played the final 18 minutes with 10 men after captain Hattan Bahebri was sent off for catching Simakan with an elbow.

Victory lifted Al Nassr a place to second – above Al Ahli on goal difference and three points below leaders Al Hilal.

Ronaldo, who was substituted with 11 minutes remaining, moved on to 961 professional goals courtesy of the simple finish.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star said last month he would not retire before reaching the career milestone of 1,000 goals.
