Frank Anguissa struck in the fifth minute of added time as Serie A champions Napoli snatched a last-gasp 1-0 victory over Cagliari.
On the first anniversary of Scott McTominay’s £25million move from Manchester United, Antonio Conte’s hosts looked set to drop points on a largely frustrating evening.
But former Fulham midfielder Anguissa sparked wild celebrations from head coach Conte by side-footing home Alessandro Buongiorno’s low centre in the final minute of the allotted added time.

Cagliari’s previous visit to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona came on the final day of last season, when Napoli were crowned champions after McTominay opened the scoring in a 2-0 home victory.
The Scotland midfielder, who spearheaded the title charge and was named the league’s most valuable player, went closest to a first-half breakthrough, forcing a corner out of visiting goalkeeper Elia Caprile after weaving through the visitors’ defence.
Conte’s men dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances against stubborn opposition.
Napoli left-back Leonardo Spinazzola forced another save out of Caprile on the hour mark before winger Matteo Politano fired over.
Substitute Noa Lang – on in place of Kevin De Bruyne – almost broke the deadlock nine minutes from time but, after his low effort beat Caprile, the ball was cleared off the line.

Cagliari began the campaign by salvaging a 1-1 draw at home to Fiorentina thanks to a dramatic added-time equaliser.
It took Fabio Pisacane’s side until the 88th minute to register an attempt on target here when Zito Luvumbo’s strike from range was comfortably kept out by Napoli keeper Alex Meret.
McTominay, who opened the scoring in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Sassuolo, was poised to end the evening frustrated following another impressive individual display.
But with just seconds remaining, substitute Buongiorno delivered from the left and unmarked Cameroon international Anguissa dispatched a clinical, first-time finish beyond Caprile from level with the penalty spot.
