Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been ruled out “for the foreseeable future” after sustaining a calf injury in Wednesday night’s Champions League win against Bayer Leverkusen.
Neuer, 38, was forced off in the 58th minute and replaced by Jonas Urbig in Bayern’s 3-0 first-leg last-16 win over their Bundesliga rivals at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern said: “Manuel Neuer suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right calf in the 3-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Champions League game on Wednesday evening.

“The diagnosis was confirmed by the FC Bayern medical unit. The record champions’ goalkeeper will therefore be out for the foreseeable future.”
Neuer has started in all bar four of Bayern’s Bundesliga games this season, making 33 appearances in all competitions.
Bayern, eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table, face Leverkusen in the return leg next Tuesday.
