Juventus claimed three crucial points in the battle for top-four places in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over AC Milan on Saturday.
Two goals in quick succession in the second half from Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah proved the difference at the Allianz Stadium.
Mbangula broke the deadlock with a deflected strike just before the hour and substitute Weah made the points safe with a fine strike five minutes later.
Mbangula had gone close to opening the scoring after just eight minutes when he pounced on an error and shot just over before Teun Koopmeiners also went close.
Federico Gatti then spurned a good chance when he headed wide but Milan wasted an opportunity when Tijjani Reijnders failed to make a clean connection.
Rafael Leao went closer for the visitors but his effort was blocked, as were two follow-up attempts from Theo Hernandez in the ensuing goalmouth scramble.
Juve began to take control late in the first half as Kenan Yildiz shot at Mike Maignan, who then saved from Weah and Koopmeiners after the interval.
The breakthrough came in the 59th minute as Mbangula’s effort took a big deflection off Emerson Royal to beat Maignan. Weah followed up shortly afterwards with a low shot across goal after racing onto a Khephren Thuram pass.
Hernandez almost pulled one back for Milan 12 minutes from time with a powerful effort from a free-kick that flew wide. Milan’s Matteo Gabbia also shot wide in stoppage time as Juve held on.
