Rangers have moved level on points with rivals Celtic after 2-1 victory over Aberdeen.
Todd Cantwell scored midway through the second half to take all three points for the hosts and ruin Neil
Philippe Clement’s side dominated the early stages of this encounter. Winning almost every first and second ball before taking the lead in the seventh minute. Ross McCausland’s curling effort was pushed directly into the path of Rabbi Matondo who proceeded to riffle the ball into the back of the net.
Aberdeen managed to settle into the game after going a goal behind, but failed to create any real clear chances in the final third.
That was until the final minute of the first half. A long clearing ball over the top of the rangers defence by Connor Baron picked out Miovski who outmuscled Connor Goodson and poke the ball into the back of the net.
A sense of disbelief was the overriding emotion at half time as the two teams went into the break level.
Rangers looked to start the second half with a bang. Cyriel Dessers going the closest in the 53rd minute when he found himself in acres of space in the middle of the penalty spot but couldn’t get the ball past the Aberdeen keeper.
The hosts continued their pressure and got their reward in the 71st minute. A thunderous strike from 30 yards out by Tom Lawrence caused Kelle Roos all sorts of issues. He could have push the ball once again into the path of a rangers forward. This time it was Todd Cantwell who was waiting in the wings and made no mistake slotting the ball home.
Rangers were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute when substitute Dujon Sterling was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Jack Mckenzie.
However it was too little too late for Aberdeen who couldn’t manage to find that all important equaliser.
This result moves Rangers just one goal behind Celtic in the league table who play Hibernian tomorrow night.
For Aberdeen and Neil Warnock they fall down to 9th in the premiership table after Motherwell’s victory over Ross County.
