Celtic fan James Hilton is hoping to knock Rangers out of the Scottish Cup this weekend.

The Dumbarton midfielder will share the pitch with international stars on Saturday when his side welcome the Glasgow giants to the Rock.

Yet, when asked if he was looking forward to battling it out with the likes of Fabio Silva and James Tavernier, the 26-year-old made it clear that he would not be starstruck. He said:

“Nah, not really. I’m a Celtic man so I’m not really bothering about them.

“Look they’re top players, top professionals so any of them I’m looking forward to coming up against them and showing an account of myself.”

James and his family may support Celtic, but he has plenty of Rangers supporting friends and neighbours who are excited to watch him play against their beloved club. He added:

“I’ve had a few Rangers fans message me for tickets, but I’ve told them ‘Beat it! No chance.’

“We know what it’s going to be like around about the place, it’s going to be different to a normal Saturday but we’re all buzzing to go.

“I’m from Stranraer and the old guy that stays next to me messaged me. He said he’s a big Rangers man, but he would be proud if I scored the winner against them on Saturday so it’s nice messages like that that get you going for Saturday.”

There are 33 places between Dumbarton and Rangers in the Scottish football pyramid, but James Hilton still believes his side can cause an upset. He said:

“It’s 11v11. Coming down here, they’re not going to fancy it in terms of the weather, the pitch, the one stand.

“They’re not used to that, but we are, so we’re looking forward to it.”
