Peter Leven insisted that the Aberdeen players will ‘keep the foot on the gas’ after it was confirmed that they would finish in the bottom six following today’s 0-0 draw with Livingston.

The Dons, who remain without a permanent manager, thought they had snatched a late point when Bojan Miovski acrobatically finished beyond Shamal George in the 88th minute, but VAR spotted an offside in the build up and the points were shared.

Leven highlighted the importance of finishing the season strongly, despite the disappointment of being unable to build on last season third place:

‘Whether it’s me or somebody else I’ll be pushing them every day.

‘We cannot take the foot off the gas. We’ve got to do it for the supporters, they’ve travelled in numbers again today.

‘I’ve always said if they need me I’m available. I’ll always take charge of that’s what needs be but I’m just taking it day by day.’

David Martindale meanwhile highlighted his thinning squad due to injury:

‘We had four outfield subs on the bench today and they had a concussion sub at half time. The referee said to me you can make an extra sub Davie’

‘Where? I’ve got four players and I can make six subs? That was the harsh reality of it’ Martindale added.

‘The group we’ve got just now need a hand. We need some of the injured boys back giving us a hand.’

Livingston still remain at the foot of the table but gained a point back on Ross County above them – with the gap now 9 points to safety.

Martindale believes that today’s draw is testament to his side’s desire to survive:

‘The group that were on the park today, they’ve showed the fans that they care. I think they’ve done that most games this season.’
