Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell was delighted last night to get his first goal of the season against Sparta Prague but the Englishman insists his game isn’t all about goalscoring.
The Ibrox outfit surpassed Sparta with ease last night with Danilo and Todd Cantwell hitting the back of the net within the first 20 minutes at Ibrox in the Europa League.
Cantwell says, “I said when I first joined the club It’s not something I’m obsessed with but that’s why I’m in the team I’m in there to create and to make things happen and I’m delighted to get my goal tonight. I think the team is growing for a while, the team has been growing since the moment I signed here, I think we’re definitely in a good position now.
But the important thing tonight was that we won and I’m really glad we did.
You do as the manager asks of you, he’s asked me to play there he’s obviously seen something. He’s been saying I’ve got a very good left foot all week and there you go, I go and score on it. Maybe he is a magic man.”
The Englishmans’s calm left footed finish sent the stands of Ibrox into mayhem. Along with Danilo’s opener, it put Rangers second in their group table on seven points, just two behind Real Betis.
Philippe Clement will hope that the current form of the ex Norwich man will continue as Rangers aspire to have European football after Christmas.
