Celtic dealt with hammer blow as Daizen Maeda set to watch from sidelines for a minimum of six weeks through injury.

Celtic winger Daizen Maeda who has featured in a total of 17 matches for Celtic this season both domestic and European, could be out for the rest of the year after picking up an injury during the challenge he was sent off for during the Parkhead side’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Celtic now deal with a double injury blow as both Maeda and Reo Hatate face time on the sidelines until at least Christmas.

In his press conference today the Celtic manager Brendan Rodger said,

“Daizen will probably be up to six weeks out with a injury from the challenge. He’s strained his knee ligament which comes from when you just knock a player on the foot.If he went in stronger then he probably wouldn’t have the injury so the clash of feet has just opened up his knee ligament. It’s a big change for us because he’s been brilliant for us.”

Celtic will host Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday at an early kick off time of 2:30pm.
