Ross County took a giant leap towards Premiership survival with a stunning last gasp win over Hibs to move out of the playoff spot and two points above relegation rivals St Johnstone.

Substitute Jordan White netted an 88th minute winner after Myziane Maolida had given Hibs the lead before Simon Murray  equalised before the break.

It was a rollercoaster afternoon in which both sides hit the woodwork and will count themselves unlucky not to have seen the net bulge on more than the three occasions it did.

The result means that the Staggies move out of the dreaded 11th place playoff spot for the first time since December 29th and their manager Don Cowie highlighted an impressive string of home results as key to them climbing the table:

‘The last three games, nine points. Hearts, Rangers and Hibs. Great credit to the players it’s them that’s going out and putting on the performances.

‘Never in any of those games have I felt we’ve fluked the victory. We’ve been well in the game and it’s just about building on that.

‘We’ve got two more home games. Two tough ones. Two really important ones for us and we want to maintain the form that we’re in.’

Hibs boss Nick Montgomery meanwhile lamented his side’s missed chances and said it’s a story he’s seen too often this year:

‘It easy for me to stand here and say we should’ve won the game, but you have 20 shots on goal, play a lot of good football and create a lot more openings. We hit the post and had one on one’s with the goalkeeper, but if you don’t put those chances away they’re going to play direct and make you deal with stuff.

‘I thought we played really well in patches throughout the game but we’ve been here too many times before. It’s just a mistake late on in the game and we get punished for not taking the chances we created.’
