Kilmarnock skipper Kyle Vassell stamps his sides ticket to for European football next season after the striker gave Killie the advantage in the second half with a low strike outside the 18 yard box this afternoon.

A sluggish start for both sides in the opening half despite Killie having most, if not all of the chances created as they worked George Wickens well. Despite their best efforts neither team managed to break the dead lock before the break.

Into the second half and whatever the managers had to say to their teams at the break, it seemed to work as both sides came out on a mission to find the opener.

There were certainly more encouraging signs from both sets of players as Danny Armstrong was inches away from getting his name on the score sheet.

The winger whipped in a left footed effort that just brushed past the top left corner.

County’a biggest chance came from Simon Murray, the striker almost made it 4 goals in 4 games as his convincing curling effort forced Will Dennis to dive to his right to put the ball beyond the goal.

Three points gained today puts Kilmarnock five points clear in fifth and sets them up nicely ahead of their trip to Perth next weekend before the league split.
