Neil Lennon is “keeping fingers crossed” that he gets a call back for the Republic of Ireland job.
Stephen Kenny parted company with the FAI last week with the former Celtic manager among the bookies’ favourites for the role.
Roy Keane, Lee Carsley and Steve Bruce have also been linked with the job. Lennon won 40 caps for Northern Ireland across a 9-year international career.
Asked if he had heard back from the Irish camp, Lennon said: “No, not yet but it is something that I would value and would be very interested in, no question.
“Like all these jobs there will be a plethora of outstanding candidates so it will be a process. There will be a shortlist and they will be working it rhrough it.
“I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get an opportunity to speak to them.”
