Rangers left the Czech Republic with a point after a 0-0 draw against Sparta Prague.

The evening saw Philippe Clement’s men ride their luck for large parts of the first half.

The visitors upped their performance and pushed for a winner of their own as the second period wore on but it was to no avail as the points were shared in Prague.

Ben Davies came in at left back with Borna Barisic and Dujon Sterling ruled out and Ridvan Yilmaz omitted from Rangers European squad.

An agile double save by Jack Butland denied Sparta Prague an opener after four minutes, first from Veljko Birmancevic and then Qazim Laçi.

Laçi again came close with 20 minutes on the clock when his effort fizzed just beyond Butland’s right hand post.

Rangers managed to keep the score level for the remainder of the half as the host’s pressure continued to mount.

With 15 minutes remaining Sam Lammers almost took all three points for Clement’s side but his effort from the edge of the box was tipped away by Peter Vindahl.

Substitute Danilo then saw his close range effort come off the bar as Rangers continued their late charge, but the goal wasn’t to come as both teams shared the points.
