Scotland have suffered their second straight defeat to the Netherlands, keeping them rooted to the bottom of group A with just one point in four games.

The only goal of the night came for Esmee Brugts, with the Dutch left back’s curling effort bouncing into the back of the net after hitting the post to seal a 1-0 win for the away side.

The opening 45 was dominated by The Netherlands. However Erin Cuthbert played a key role for the home side in the middle of the park.

The biggest chance of the opening half came through Sherida Spitse’s free kick, just out side the 18 yard box.

The midfielder was unlucky not to give her side the lead as Scotland keeper Sandy MacIver forced it off the inside of the crossbar.

But with neither side able to make the breakthrough it remained goalless at the break.

However soon after the restart Esmee Brugts fired in the decisive strike to give the Dutch the lead.

Lineth Beerensteyn was then unlucky not to double the lead for the Netherlands when her shot from inside the box bounced back off the far post.

Pedro M Losa’s side were unaable to get back on level terms, with the draw seeing them remaining bottom of the table with just one point from four Nations League games.
