Hearts defender Toby Sibbick believes a win against Rangers this weekend can ‘kickstart’ their season.
The Jambos have won just three of their opening nine league matches but still occupy 4th spot in the table.
Steven Naismith’s side were comfortably beaten 4-1 by champions Celtic at Tynecastle last weekend and now must travel to Ibrox to face Philippe Clement’s Rangers on Sunday.
The task of back-to-back matches against the old firm may sound daunting, but Toby Sibbick hopes that a positive result against the Light Blues can be the catalyst for an uptick in form. He said:
“Yeah, I think so, if we get the three points there (Ibrox) then I think that can be the start of our season.
“Obviously we’re going to go out there with a gameplan to frustrate them (Rangers) and obviously attack them at the same time.
“We don’t just want to sit in and defend. We want to go out there and play with intent to win the game.”
Hearts have struggled to find consistency this year and have failed to win two consecutive league matches since January.
However, the English full-back believes that a win against top opposition on Sunday can help the Jambos deliver more consistent performances. He added:
“If we win a game, the next one we either draw or lose so I think if we win on Sunday, it can really kickstart our season and we can string a couple of wins back-to-back in the league and our confidence will be good.
“But the boys work hard in training every day, we still know the quality in the team, so for us it’s now just about going out there and proving it.”
