Inter Milan celebrated their Serie A title success with a 2-0 win over 10-man Torino at San Siro on Sunday.

Hakan Calhanoglu scored both goals in the second half as Inter, who secured the Scudetto with victory over rivals AC Milan as the away team on Monday, partied in front of their own fans.

The game hinged on two decisions after the break by referee Maria Ferrieri Caputi, who was heading up the first all-female on-field officiating team in Serie A history.

The first saw Torino’s Adrien Tameze sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity and the second was the award of a penalty.

Calhanoglu proved the beneficiary as he struck twice in the space of four minutes to wrap up victory.

Torino had made most of the early running as Nikola Vlasic had an effort blocked and Yann Sommer saved from Ricardo Rodriguez.

Marcus Thuram fired over with Inter’s first serious attempt but Sommer had to be alert again to keep out a Duvan Zapata strike.

Sommer then had a let-off when a mistake led to Zapata being played in for another chance but he headed wide.

Inter began to take control in the latter stages of the first half and Henrikh Mkhitaryan went close with a long-range effort after spotting Vanja Milinkovic-Savic off his line.

Lautaro Martinez also tried his luck from distance but was denied by the keeper.

The game turned decisively in Inter’s favour two minutes after the break when Tameze brought down Mkhitaryan when through on goal.

Tameze was initially shown a yellow card but the referee upgraded that to red following a VAR review.

Inter took advantage of their numerical superiority on 56 minutes when Calhanoglu opened the scoring with a fine low shot from a Mkhitaryan through-ball.

They doubled their lead four minutes later after Thuram was brought down in the area by Matteo Lovato and Calhanoglu lashed his spot-kick into the top corner.

That effectively ended the game as a contest and Inter calmly played down the clock.

Davide Frattesi had a chance to add to the lead but shot over and Martinez failed to get good connection on a shot when well placed.

Kristjan Asllani also blasted wide late on but the result was already beyond doubt and the title celebrations could truly begin soon after.
