On the evidence of the opening weekend of the season all is as it was.
Neither Rangers nor Celtic will feel that they showed their best side yet both succeeded in ensuring that there are three points on the board from their curtain-raiser.
Livingston would have felt aggrieved to have ended the game with nothing given what they put into it on Saturday but it said much about Rangers that they were dogged enough to ensure there was no slip.
Celtic were profligate at times against Aberdeen, much to Ange Postecoglou’s irritation, and until Jota’s second there was a tenuous feel about the score line.
But the conclusion drawn from the first weekend is that this is a season in which there looks to little between the two squad at Ibrox and at Celtic Park.
And a season that is nip and tuck should ensure that there are thrills and excitement if both take it right to the wire again this term.
Which should mean that the build up to the opening derby of the season next month will be intriguing as it is the derby games between the two where the real mileage can be gained.
